This 1879 Victorian was once a single-family residence, home to Ephraim Augustus Emmerton. He was a young mariner who traveled 4,000 miles across the ocean to Russia on the eve of Napoleon’s invasion, then returned to find his home nation gearing up for war as well.
After his passing, it was converted to an Inn and has been run as a place for tourists to gather ever since.
After taking over the property in 2021, we decided it was time to restore this property to its former glory while simultaneously bringing it into the modern era. No expense was spared and every square inch was addressed. Now, The Coach House lovingly pays homage to Salem’s rich and eclectic history while incorporating elements of modern design. Such beautiful surroundings guarantee that guests will feel relaxed and special, making their stay truly magical and unforgettable.
